In the economy of relationships, there's a price to falling in love. According to a new, as yet unpublished study from Oxford University, it's two friends. Brian Dunbar, an evolutionary anthropologist, conducted a survey that asked people about how their inner circle changed when they fell in love. His findings suggest that people have about five close confidantes at any one time. In order to make room for the new love interest, that circle shrinks.

"People who are in romantic relationships - instead of having the typical five [individuals] on average, they only have four in that circle," Dunbar told the BBC. "And bearing in mind that one of those is the new person that's come into your life, it means you've had to give up two others."

This may explain why some young males maintain the "bros over h-words" rule—to try to prevent their inner circle from being fragmented. It also explains why the sequel to Sex and The City didn't really work. (Well, that and the whole multiple costume changes in the middle of the desert thing...)

"What I suspect happens," says Dunbar, "is that your attention is so wholly focused on your romantic partner that you just don't get to see the other folks you have a lot to do with, and therefore some of those relationships just start to deteriorate and drop down into the layer below."

Dunbar is noted for previously having suggested that we can only really hold enough space in our brains to have relationships with 150 people, despite what our Facebook pages say. This has come to be known as Dunbar's number.

But evolutionary anthropology is not destiny, as they say in the classics. So even if we have to all roll over and two have rolled out to accommodate our bestie's new flame, nobody's circle is set in stone. After things have simmered down a bit, it's got to be possible to reconnect with good friends again, right? Unless of course, the new lover is unbearable, and there's the only one thing to do.

In New York, I find I am less watchful, less greedy, less restless. Besides, I have finally acquired a handful of friends that I do not hold at arm’s length to analyze. And with them, I do not secrete every meaningful thought away in the apothecary drawers in my brain. They ask me questions and I respond with answers, not decoys or digressions. With them, too, especially when I’m angry or excited, my language is unguarded. I am suddenly “chuffed” instead of proud, “skint” in place of broke, eat “crisps” and an “aiyah” may make an appearance to indicate alarm. They rib me about my guilelessly disclosed peripatetic hodgepodge, my squirmy diphthongs and strange argot. But I am grateful that they get through my force field. I even tell them so.

Hello my friends. I have an interesting proposition.

Let's go to Kusu Island on 10/10/10!

It's a Sunday by the way. I have to go explore/take pictures of flora and fauna and make a poster of one of Singapore's shoreline and was really sad to find out that they closed off the intertidal regions of Labrador Nature Reserve on the mainland.

So the next most exciting one should be on Kusu Island.

After consulting the tide tables, 101010 seem like a good day to get my ankles wet and hopefully get some photos of corals and nemo lookalikes.

So... here's the schedule for the boat ride out:

As you can see its $15 for the ride out and what's that compared to an adventure with your fellow PFs????

Okok. Honestly, I don't want to go to an offshore island alone... and I need madame's camera or my project might look damn cui.

Came back from getting distracted by my bro. Apparently there's some action in the carpark.

I thought civil servants don't have to work on weekends... Why are they issuing samans in the middle of the night? (i.e. 0056 on a Sunday morning mind you.)

Harry and I went tourist-ing again. And in 8 hours and 4km we managed to clear

Seems like the PFs are finding it hard to appear in one place at the same time. But fear not Aud, YN's here to spam pictures XD

So the day started with us having the customary lunch at Mac's. Just look at Harry and her delight over her plain quarterpounder (cheese on beef bet bun). Well, I too had my first extra value meal in months and for some reason or another, my GIT seem unable to handle it :(

There was this cut out of Toy Story 3 and the much anticipated appearance of "I'm not a girl's toy" Ken obviously drew some animosity as seen from the rip through his head and the very appropriate look of concern on Barbie's face...

We weren't allowed to take any photos from the exhibition.... but I guess it was ok... They really shouldn't have charged that much... (notice excessive use of ...s)All the buses can be found in Bedok... The person who made this must be staying somewhere near PIE bedok ave 3 exit and wished like hell that the buses from both sides would just merge XDNo comment.
The highlight of the day, dancing magnetic grass that was oddly mesmerising. We actually started hand dancing along. Must been a pretty weird sight for unsuspecting tourists.

As usual, we just love to take nonsensical pics and have them flash all over the (6?) screen(s) for everyone to see~There was this Star Wars game for you to use your force to blow up clones... Harry seem to be having fun. Since we started with a pic of happy Harry, we shall end with another happy pic of Harry, seen here with her newly purchased, kinda too-small-but-aww-shucks-I-just-can't-resist bookend.

Ditto what YN posted. Harriet caught up with the entire season 3 and up to current episode of Ugly Betty and Harriet is going to start on Glee.

Harriet's not complaining that much about school work but frustration is more in how everything we do is so uninspired. People give you the incredulous look for trying. Sorry, Harriet does not think Facebook games, bumming around and watching loads of TV is good enough.

Harriet makes it a point to go cycling at least once a week. Now that the bike is in campus. Maybe Harriet can go cycling FIVE.TIMES.A.WEEK. Jokes aside. The real point of this post is how Harriet got her bike into campus.

As a habit, Harriet gets up at 830 on weekends just to go cycling before the sun gets too harsh, but you'll still be expecting to see Harriet in arm sleeves and gloves. Harriet can't stress sun damage enough. The ride was great until Harriet hit Nanyang Circle.

The chain on Harriet's bike got stuck in the gears and then you have all the fatigue kicking in from the slopes.THE BEST PART had got to be getting your monthly crampies with it. Harriet pushed her bike a little upslope before abandoning it by the road. Harriet continued along the road seeing dark flashes. Thrice, Harriet had to sit down by the road and twice sprawled on the grass letting ants run all over Harriet.

Harriet took a good 20 on what usually takes her 5. After lots of water, Harriet commuted back to her grandmother's place and that went fine so was the rest of the day. Harriet wore a dress with flowy sleeves to see Alice. No 3D though. Maybe next week. The sleeves definitely makes Harriet want to twirl around like Anne Hathaway in the movie! <3

Harriet doesn't remember the html code for putting links under text and my editor on Android only helps me with some formatting. Oh hay! Harriet is no longer such a g33k! /achievement

Harriet went to a Polyclinic yesterday. The doctor said she had a sensitive nose and gave her a nose spray. It turns out to be rather expensive and its a steriod. Harriet's concerned mother forbade her to touch the steroids. Therefore, Harriet will continue to have to sleep 10 hours a day and no less.

BTW. the Google phone is one AMAZING device.

After the horrors of know our results (horror for me at least) Madame and I decided to head out to somerset to explore the new shopping mall.

Yes. There's a new addition, making it the 3rd new shopping mall on the orchard strip.

The decadent and very tiring day started off with a meal from Pasta mania.

Apple crumble pizza. Not exactly a pizza more of apple and crumbles on crust. But nonetheless quite a nice dessert. I believe that was the reason that we had lunch there.

Madame and her bacon aglio. There was a lot of bacon, which was just as well, my mushroom chicken pizza was kind of tasteless.

After lunch we proceeded to Somerset 313 which houses 4 levels of Forever 21 and a good mix of other apparel shops.

I didn't get anything though. Still thinking of whether to get the pair of fierce heels. (Which most prob will not see the light of day... if I get it).

For the 2 PFs who are unfortunately not in Sg to share the joy of Christmas with me and madame here are some snapshots of the festive decorations at Orchard.

How are my lovely princess friends doing? My life couldn't be better here. Be jealous. Hoho. It's like reversal to secondary school days where after 1.30 class, all you care about is hanging out. Having lunch, shopping, spending hours at the Aldo liquidation store trying on a hundred different hair bands...

Btw, that's an Aldo sale store selling loads of last season's Aldo stuff for friggin cheap. And while I was there I thought of you princesses and that maybe you princesses would like to trade your pretty little tiaras for Aldo hair bands. They were five for five dollars! And I swear the price on the original tag was fifteen bucks each. You girls can fight it out who gets what when I get back, but I've already taken my favorite black and white one :P

Nope, not excited about my upcoming FIVE core module exams...

But about the LEONID METEOR SHOWER!

We (minus mystery guy. haha.) will be thinking about Aud and Harry and hope you guys get to see the same falling meteorites... Isn't it romantic? We are in different continents yet the sky we see is (almost) the same...

Wah... Excited!

Another thing that got me excited is the Bossini X Campbell kids collection which I spotted at Bugis Junction! Yes, I know not half as exciting as Harry and Aud's sightseeing and YN's field trip. But OMG~ They are so cute.

I super heart the dress in the middle - wished they had an adult version of it.

Though I am not so fond of the panties that come with it... Who in the right mind would let children wear "I'M TASTY"?!? That is so distasteful... Yucks!

And the overalls are oh-so-cute!

It made me so tempted to get a dress for my baby cousin so that I can make her model the dress.... Until I saw the prices... Every single item was >$35! OMG! Since when was bossini so branded anyway? Ouch. But I wouldn't mind paying that price if it was an adult dress.... Alas, one can dream I guess.

Still, all the campbell-ness made my crave for an old childhood drink of mine. (At least it was affordable at 90 cents)

I used to fanstasize about myself being a vampire drinking blood while drinking this salty tomato juice.

Can't wait! Let the meteorites fall down from space!

Nakashima Mika just released a new single, Nageareboshi. It's stuck on repeat in Harriet's iTunes :3
Harriet been a loyal Mika fan since SEVEN and especially loves the "Star" theme ballads.

Harriet loves watching Mika's lives. It's impactful, though Harriet is not so big on the couching when Mika hits the high notes. This stage is quite　similar to her performance at Kouhaku Uta Gassen last year. Probably one of those set ups that looks cool but is actually really simple. Harriet is guessing Mika will sing Nagareboshi at Kouhaku this year. \(^o^)/

Btw, Harriet did see 2 shooting stars while she is in Germany. If the skies are clear and dark, it's not difficult to see. Unfortunately it's not quite possible in urban areas. No, Harriet did not make wishes, because she was already having the best time of her life.

I think yesterday was the first time I saw a pitcher plant. Apparently they are considered rare in Singapore.... Since it's the first time I've seen them, I guess they are. Only 3 species can be found in Singapore (if I'm not wrong...)

So, for my biweekly ultra vigorous work out regime a.k.a ecology field trip, we went to Kent Ridge park!

But first we had to climb this flight of steps from hell. I think the people who designed this should be made to climb it.

They are so named because of the shape. The above are the lower pitchers (lower meaning they are found on or near ground level) of the slender pitcher plant. Notice the colour... I think the colour differ from the intermediate pitchers to avoid predatory.

Upper pitcher

The slender pitcher plant is the most common pitcher plant. We did our "project" on this and turns out that the peristome (the opening) is mostly less than 2cm. We nearly died trying to find bigger ones, kena cheated by TA who said that large ones are easier to find >.<

Just like any other big organisms found in Singapore, these pitchers are named Raffles-something (think rafflesia).

Lower pitcher

Just like the slender pitchers, the intermediate and lower pitcher have some morphological differences. Notice that there are extra flaps called keels running down the side.

These are the least common pitchers found in Singapore. We only saw one patch of it along the whole trail. The cluster together, there are 3 clusters in the picture above. As the clusters go higher up the more dried pitchers were observed in the cluster.

I personally think that they look like the jug things that they use to heat up sauces. Notice the narrow lids sticking out from the peristomes.

Now that we have seen the different kinds of pitchers, let's look inside!

As you probably know, pitcher plants are carnivorous plant climbers. Though they are decidedly less exciting to watch than venus fly traps when capturing their prey, I'd have to say that they are definitely receiving their fair share of food. We poured out the fluid from the pitchers and here's what we got...

Full of ant parts. The one I poured out had mosquito larvae and some white wriggling worms in it. Apparently mosquitoes lay their eggs in them and for some reason the larvae can survive... and there's the wriggling white worm that were obviously alive, perhaps wriggling in agony.

Here's another one, but don't worry, no pitchers were harmed (I hope). We poured the fluid and the various insect parts back afterward.

Harriet checks her LJ and discovers a post on making jewelery from Shrink Plastic. Some sort of nostalgia takes over and urges Harriet to run out to buy Shrink Plastic! Then of course, Harriet would trawl the interwebs for more tutorials before starting anything and eventually forgetting about it. ;D

Harriet went to Aachen today to meet someone new. A little more about that here. Harriet had lots of German food today and it was fantastic!

Germany's first UNESCO World Heritage Site is there!

The day turned out so beautiful, the skies had crazy blue saturation in photos.
It's difficult to tell it's Germany's first UNESCO from the outside, a mixture of different architectural styles. The inside is surprisingly small too but it was covered in amazing mosaic and they mosaics were shiny! :3 but then they charge 2 euros to take pictures and Harriet thought she'd do without.

My ecology module have been taking me to places that I've never been to. Today, its to the middle of a railway track! Oh! And walking through weeds that are 1m tall. I sweat was dripping off my back even before the practical started.

So we were supposed to go down into the stream to collect samples, chuck then under microscopes and pick out the macroscopic animals. But.... being spoilt urban brats, of course we were facinated by the rusty railway track XD

Too bad I can't cam whore in private so I took a photo of the group.... And a picture of my foot.

I thought this was a much better picture... Panda on rocks!

Tube filled with worms. Though they just appear as thread like stuff at the bottom... there are ard 40 of them inside!

All that blood lost to mosquitoes and grass cuts on my legs just for these little critters>.<

My legs really hurt.

Work Hard, Play even Harder

Harriet is back from the Rhines, the Moselles, Hergé museum and Brussels Art Nouveau Biennale~! The trip was amazing, though weather wasn't the greatest and some places Harriet wanted to see were closed. Harriet bought back 300 photos, 3 more Tintin goods, a healthy dose of cardio and lungs filled with fresh air and perhaps some scrapes from falling off her bike.

Harriet has 2 subjects this block and it's a lot of reading and presentations! Harriet will try harder! Go go Harriet!

Anyways, Harriet is having a bit of problem with her photos.... Harriet shoots in RAW format in highest resolutions, so she used up the entire of an 8 gb SD card and she has no disk space to edit them ;A; The external drive Harriet bought with her is unreliable! >8( There will only be two photos today!

Harriet tried using Adobe Lightroom! This one is my favourite shot of the entire trip. Mainly because Harriet is a sucker for coin souvenirs and the photo did not require editing except for cropping an Lightroom added my camera model. Harriet is delightfully surprised by how well the camera handles macro shots!

The coin is from Burg Eltz. It comes with the guide tour of the castle. Harriet hiked 90 minutes to get up to the castle and it was well worth it! If you know Harriet well enough, you'd know Harriet is deathly afraid of heights and hiking is quite a task for her. Harriet thinks Burg Eltz comparable to Neuschwanstein and they serve delicious homemade wine up there. Harriet should make another post about the castles she's been to. They are totally a league of its own.

Here's another favourite thing from the trip!

It's the audio guide from the Hergé museum! Yes! It has a touch screen and it plays videos and quizzes throughout the tour! Adds an amazing experience to the museum, where the exhibits itself is awesome enough.

Harriet shall go do her readings now, she has more epic weekends ahead! A trip to Aachen this week and Stockholm the next. Herlina is in Stockholm! Harriet hopes to see her soon!

It's been quite a while, Harriet missed every one! How's everyone doing? Harriet is having a great time in Maastricht!
Our Princesses need to update more! Harriet feels a bit disappointed when she visits PF and no new updates.... ;A;

Anyways, Harriet's received her new camera. It's has a super wide angle lens and it even has an electronic thing that tells you if you are holding the camera straight. Doubles as a spirit level. Awesome! ^-^v Now Harriet no longer has excuse not to update or at least she can pic spam. Yeah! BABY~~

It's exam week for everyone, but not for Harriet this time. Harriet only need to write a paper, so today Harriet took her bike out to print her report (Harriet spent 3 euros on colour printing her 11 page report @_@ Harriet shouldn't be so OCD *repeat 200 times*) and made a detour to the coolest places in Maastricht. That is the only one place Harriet knew about before arriving in Maastricht.

Harrriet is kidding about going every Sunday. No offense either. It's just two of Harriet's favourite kind of places combined in one. Ironically enough, Harriet love going to book stores but no longer read books and visits churches but is not affiliated to the religion in anyway. Perhaps it's the calming atmosphere both of them have. Good reason to put them together, probably.

Well actually, Harriet read about a bookstore/library inside a church in some design journal a few years ago. Harriet stepped in the place feeling like it's a dream come true but don't quite remember what it is. This bookstore is designed by Merkx + Girod and they won an award for it, que design journal.

Anyways it's just all sorts of awesome.

None of these metal structures touches the original church structures. Double-P! Preservation and practicality.

This is the image that snapped I've seen this place before and the feeling of Deja-Vu subsides. It's the cross shaped table. There are magazines running inside the cross. Harriet thinks the chandelier and table is a nice reinterpretation of the religious/historic features.

So Harriet arrived in Maastricht, and she's making so much resolutions she's hardly keeping up.

Anyways, Harriet busted her camera and her back up one has a screen sooooo puny, Harriet is discouraged from taking any pictures. Sorry everyone, you'll no longer have pic spams from Harriet. Harriet might get the picture of herself squirming after a sip of beer from her friend, but no promises yes?

For madame, stroopwaffles are probably the best dutch food they have and honestly it's not good to sell. Unless someone knows what they are, the waffles usually look like big biscuits in a caramel plastered bag, not appetizing at all.

Taa for now, Harriet will have to brave the morning cold for class tommorrow and hopefully her laundry in the dryer labelled in dutch only will be okay. Harriet's laundry is going through the third 40-min cycle because the two wasn't enough. Apparently, leaving it in the dryer overnight works so Harriet is going try it.

I have no idea about what's wrong with blogger. 1 month ago, I can't post pictures now I can't even blog properly... Is it me or is everyone else experiencing this?

I think school has made me quite stressed out after a mere 3 weeks. I'm totally hoping that this is due to a bad case of back to school rustiness.

Harry and Aud, you guys are so lucky to be overseas. The weather is sh*tty here. For 2 weeks I can step out of the house freshly showered and 5 mins later be covered in sweat and these few days it's threatening to rain all the time!

Harriet spent the day running last minute errands and shopping. I managed to ask SIA for an extra 10 kg of baggage, thus the frantic shopping. And even more exciting, Harriet's brother will come over to Netherlands to "pick up" Harriet when her term ends!♪

Hair Colouring

Seeing Audrey misses Harriet's service so much. Let's talk about hair colour today ★

Harriet had a total of 3 hair colourings and she gave up. Fading, root maintenance blah blah. Harriet appreciates her jet black hair now. Now Harriet colours other people's hair. It's actually kind of fun, like painting sloppily ♪

Harriet used Beauteen back then.The colours are pretty ♪ (Harriet's favorite was Pink Beige ❤), smells nice and its not too damaging, plus it's available in Singapore. Somehow Japanese dyes work well on our hair texture and the colours usually flatter our skin. Harriet would definitely recommend Beauteen, but applying yourself is still a bit of a challange >_< Harriet's arms were sore after lifting her arms too long to apply the dyes. Harriet has too much hair....

Anyways, we can always trust the Japanese to improvise some awesome beauty product. Foaming hair colour by Prettia! The products claims you can get to the roots easily because the dye is a foam. Colour change by shampooing sounds so attractive ♪ Harriet heard its wildly popular in Japan and finally it's available in Hong Kong. Girls, go bug the Singapore's Kao distributor!

while harriet blogs like a storybook, drey shall continue writing like a diary (and lazily, note no caps at all). today was party food shopping day with yn but first, i had a haircut.

pls don't comment on the horrible quality of the photos. i totally need something more than the phone camera. my mum says she's getting me a new camera for my birthday! :D

anyway, my fringe's back again! and my hairdresser blew my hair straight though i prefer the natural "strands flicking out all over" look. wild like my personality. haha. and you can totally see that the color tones are a wreck from the black outgrowth on bleached hair (made worse after so much dipping in the sea and pool recently). so i bought beauteen caramel brown. finally going back to darker shades after light light and more light. harryharry i miss your hair colouring services!

oh harry you can make it for my party in the day? awesomeness!

i almost got yn to buy hair color for her hair too BUT in the end she didn't cos we couldn't think of a place to do it. otherwise it'd be so fun to dye each other's hair! yn i swear one day i'm gonna give you an extreme makeover on your birthday. trendy cut + coloured hair + makeup + skinny clothes +++ hahaha!

after party food shopping was bikini shopping cos i'm bored of always being seen in the same blue one my mum bought for me (which is the only two piece i own by the way). this one:

i was so close to buying this pink bandeau bikini from topshop. can't find a photo from topshop but it looks pretty much similar to this:

it has a golden ring in the center and on each side of the bottoms. but the price!

nevermind, i shall go bikini shopping when i'm over there. victoria's secret!!! i'm totally in love with their pink collection!

Online Shopping

Harriet runs a shopping service (for friends only) for Taobao. It's a website from China that works pretty similar to eBay. Auctions, stores and the works. They also have a payment system like PayPal, but it is not as friendly for foreigners. Thus requiring a shopping service ;D.

Stuff on Taobao are generally cheaper, as we know everything is "made in China". It's a shopper's paradise! Almost everything can be found on Taobao. We even tried searching for cars! ;D Recently, Harriet's dad is addicted to it. He keeps bugging Harriet to help him buy XXX and YYY from Taobao......

Cheap as the stuff maybe, but the shipping is not always is, especially outside of China. It's still within reasonable range to ship to Hong Kong, but in many instances, the shipping cost almost as much as the good itself. Moreover, the Chinese yuan is stronger than the Hong Kong dollar and many currencies. Taobao is actually getting more and more expensive! nuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Nostalgic games

I just found out that there are games on vista, you just have to activate it.

OMG. Nothing is supposed to make princesses feel stupid. But I certainly do now.

I've been playing solitaire on some dubious website whenever I don't feel like studying for 2 years now and had to put up with the slowness of it all.

So the games package includes:

Chess titans: Normal chess. 3 levels.

Freecell: Normal freecell. 8 rows containing 1 deck of cards facing up with 4 "parking" spaces. The objective is similar to solitaire but the "parking" spaces can be used to temporarily store the cards.

Hearts : I'm kind of addicted. Its something like bridge but with no partner and you don't want to get any hearts and the queen of spades.

Inkball : The ball falls out and bounces against the walls and you can draw walls with the pen to help the ball get into their respective holes

Mahjong titans: The ultimate stupid game. Its just using mahjong tiles and pairing them up. Total waste of perfectly good mahjong illustrations if you ask me.

Minesweeper: Seriously old school but I've only just learnt to play it properly. Click on a unit and it shows a number representing the number of bombs in its immediate proximity. Avoid bombs.

Purble place: I finally have something for my cousins to play when they come over!!!!! Its super kiddish. Memory game, deduction game and cake making game.

Solitaire: Normal solitaire.

Solitaire Spider: Crazy game dun try if you don't have time.

Milk Tea

Harriet is still feeling miserable from the mug of milk tea she drank at 5 pm yesterday. The milk/caffine is upsetting Harriet's stomach..... >_< Anyways, it was only last year Harriet discovered how strong those things are in Hong Kong.

Harriet went to one of those "Tea restaurants" (茶餐廳) with her parents. What's a proper English name for those eateries? They're so unique to Hong Kong. Anyways, Harriet's mom asked for milk tea without milk. Actually, she just wanted tea without milk/lemon, a teh-o in Singapore. When the drink was served, it was dark like coffee! The cup of tea and was diluted into 3 cups and it was still too strong. Possibly, one cup of milkless Hong Kong milk tea = six+ cups of Singapore teh-o!

Out of topics, so lets talk about weather

Today, Harriet left the house at 10 am to run a bunch of errands. At 3 pm, it was still scorching hot. For those of you who have not experienced summer extremities in Hong Kong, try to imagine humidity and trapped pollution within 35 degrees Celsius of heat. Not something sunglasses and umbrellas can take care of. By 4 pm rain pours and Harriet got stuck in a department store.

Apparently the heat from yesterday and earlier in the day is due to a tropical cyclone, or we usually call it typhoon, coming our way. These things never go to Singapore, but when Harriet was a kid, typhoon days were happy days, because school will be canceled. Nonetheless, typhoons are serious business . Harriet used to stay in a high rise flat on a hill. The winds were so strong, we need to tape crosses on our windows to secure them when there's a typhoon. Back then, Harriet only saw trees swishing around, at most being snapped out of place and blocking the school bus route, whee! XD

Harriet lives in the urban area now, and Harriet has seen debris flying through the streets. Harriet even saw a billboard being ripped out of its frame. Pretty scary stuff. Staying indoors is generally safe, and it is actually pretty cool to observe the city as it comes to a halt and watch the storm raging through the city. Kind of cinematic as Harriet would describe it as.

Typhoons are less common and less violent in the recent years, which is a good thing because there will be heavy rainfall following a typhoon and it's kind of annoying really, though it brings down the heat. >_<

Heat = lacking coherence

Harriet's enthusiasm is starting to run dry and the temperature in Hong Kong now is a scorching 35 degrees Celsius. Harriet doesn't want to go out. It's way too hot! >_< All Harriet want is lots of ice cream and get sugar high! ♪ Then again, the weather is so horrible, Harriet don't even want to get out and walk to the supermarket opposite. Oh the dilemma!

At home, Harriet has been photographing her doll and Harriet's mom keep telling Harriet to buy more colorful outfits for her doll. >_> Harriet's mom has lots to say about it!

All that heat is bad for productivity and obviously applies to this post too
and there's a bird attacking our air conditioner =3=

Versailles and Marie Antoinette

Harriet is planning for her trip in Europe. ☆ It's giving her a big headache! Harriet went to France and Italy 5 years ago. This year, Harriet will go to Belgium, Netherlands and Germany as well. When Harriet went to Paris 5 years ago, the trains to Versailles was on strike ;A; Harriet didn't get to go to Versailles but it was a blessing in disguise ♪ Harriet discovered Musée d'Orsay and fell in love with impressionism and Art Nouveau ❤ This time, Harriet will go to le château de Versailles by hook or crook. ★ Actually, hook will do. We are driving! ♪

At Versailles, Harriet will follow the trail of Marie Antoinette. Particularly, her estate (Petit Trianon). Marie Antoinette wasn't popular in France, but Harriet is intrigued by her life of the iconic but tragic queen. Harriet also love the fashion from her era, bows, feathers, embroidery and more bows! Marie Antoinette had some peculiar tendencies. She tied ribbon of blue silk to the necks of her sheep ♪ Sofia Coppola's film embodies the things Harriet like about Marie Antoinette beautifully, though not necessarily accurate. The Japanese DVD box sets are so pretty *w*

I havn't been able to do much of anything these few days as baby has been sick and had to be nursed back to health.

Seems like Harry is doing her best to start things off with a blast for us.

Went to collect my new passport today. Somehow I think it looks fake....And they are charging the same price for a passport that lasts only half as long! Hopefully all this trouble ws worth it and I'd see stamps other than the ones from Malaysia.

Petition for an extra public holiday

Harriet will attempt for full attendance (皆勤賞) before she leaves for Europe on 10th August! ☆ That's a post from Harriet everyday and then Harriet will go on road tripping in Europe. Harriet won't be able to write for quite a while ;A; Harriet will miss everyone!

Harriet came across an ad banner in her hotmail saying Vote for an Extra Public Holiday in Singapore. Harriet clicked on it and got directed to a promotion site by Zuji. A petition by an e-tailer? Harriet thought the Singapore government is not going to grant us a public holiday based on that! It's marketing going too far! Harriet likes the creative choice of naming the extra public holiday, "Fat Hope Day" ★

Having said that, Harriet did not sign the petition. Besides, being a college student, Harriet did not like having public holidays, especially during semester time. Harriet always have to make up for missed classes on weekends instead, it's as good as not having holiday! Perhaps the holiday is good for people who work?

In case, you wonder why Harriet is writing so much. Harriet has a ScribeFire add-on in her Firefox and it's very useful! ♪

J-Dorama: Hana Kimi Boys

Harriet is a Dorama freak(ドラマフリック) ♪ Currently her hard drive has 13 gbs of dorama and she's still watching the current running season. Harriet's hard drive is running out of space! ;A;

Cast is the first thing Harriet looks at in a dorama, then the story. Harriet is unlikely to watch a dorama that has no actors she know. Hanazakari no Kimitachi e (花ざかりの君たちへ) is Harriet's favourite dorama after Nodame Cantabile (のだめカンタービレ) ♪ The cast from Nodame is working on larger projects like, Nodame, the movie, MW, Dear Doctor etc. Harriet is excited about them, but she has to wait quite a while before they can be available outside of Japan ;A; Luckily for Harriet, the Hana Kimi cast is very active in dorama this year! ☆ They are gaining popularity really fast!

Harriet has been watching all of Ikuta Toma's (Nakatsu) dramas since Hana Kimi! ♪ Though I thought Suzuki Ryohei (Akashi, 1st Dorm) performance in Majo Saiban was more outstanding than Toma.

Mr. Brain that just ended had Mizushima Hiro (Nanba) who was so adorable! Hiro is cast in Beck with Sato Takeru ☆ Harriet ❤ Mei-chan's Shibata brothers, but Harriet wonders why Sato and Hiro are being cast together so often. Sato guest-appeared in Mr. Brain too!

Horikita Maki (Mizuki) is not really a boy but Harriet thinks she's really cool. Harriet watched Maki-chan in Atashinchi no Danshi with Yamamoto Yusuke (Kayashima, aura boy) and Okada Yoshinori (Mizuki's brother) ★ Harriet can't help seeing Okada Yoshinori everywhere, but he does have a strong presence in his roles. He was even a groupie in DMC! \m/ Yamamoto Yusuke is in Ninkyo helper with Igarashi Shunji (Noe, invention boy) this season. Harriet watched the first episode of Ninkyo helper but didn't like it. Harriet is going to watch Otomen instead ♪

Otomen is the dorama Harriet is really looking forward to this season. It's starting on Saturday! Yay! The lead is played by Okada Masaki (Sekime, nobody ever remembers his name) and his rival played by Kimura Ryo (Nakao, gay boy). The dorama is about boys with girly hobbies ☆ The manga was really intersting to read and the dorama has her favourite boys ❤ Harriet can't wait for Otomen to air!

Well, come to think of it, Dorama is being made from the same pool of actors, producers, script wrights and even same filming locations (Mei-chan and Hana Yori Dango was filmed in British Hills). But since Harriet was slow to catch on the Dorama bandwagon, Harriet is still enjoying it! ♪

summer love

hello pf dearies,

shall write a post so it won't be "harriet all the time" :P

our long summer hols is coming to an end. harry and i will be going off for our exciting exchanges and madame and yn will, well, go back to school. and it seems like we haven't spent enough time together both on and offline! madame's sold her soul to hall, never been seen online and harry's been overseas the entire hols, only seen online recently.

some stuff we've been up to recently:

fooling around ikea.

hiuyan's 21st birthday party. and making that monkey harry's substitute. haha.

that's pretty much as often as i've seen madame. maybe once or twice more. yn and i have been hanging out more often though. our hols kicked off with lots of swimming cos what's summer without sunshine and the pool? calorie burning is always followed by a nice meal or shopping (: then our frequency declined when i got the gym floor trainer job which lasted for only one month. after that what happened? we didn't go swimming for two weeks cos of our "girl's thing" and i became a gym addict. once i was gymming upstairs and yn swam alone downstairs!

anyway i think my gym addiction is causing me to need some pf sos and i guess u girls know about it. today i went alone. trying the avoidance method. hope it works!

oh and i remember our cycling trip on the solar eclipse day. yn and me went cycling super early in the morning despite the rain so we could watch the eclipse together in a nice open area but all we saw were super dark rain clouds which poured on us later ): i think i killed yn's thighs on that day too. yn can beat me in swimming but not cycling! haha.

pf dearies let's exercise more more more. and let's get together more more more.
